David Spade was born July 22, 1965 in Birmingham, Michigan, but
his family moved to Arizona a few years later. He worked as a stand-up comic for
a while before meeting Dennis Miller, who was then the anchor for SNL's Weekend
Update. Dennis recognized David's talent, and helped him become a featured
player on SNL, and eventually a cast member.
At SNL, David created such
characters as the Receptionist, the Gap Girls, and hosted Hollywood Minute on
Weekend Update. He also mastered impressions of Michael J. Fox, Joan Rivers, and
other celebrities.
After leaving SNL, he and his castmate Chris Farley made
two movies together: Tommy Boy and Black Sheep. Later David
co-starred in Senseless, 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag, and provided voice
talent for Beavis & Butthead Do America.
David now stars in the
smash NBC hit, Just Shoot Me, as the sarcastic secretary Dennis
Finch.
